We build in gunite exclusively. No vinyl liners, no fiberglass shells: gunite is the only material that delivers a fully custom shape, engineered structure, and a fifty-year shell on the county's mix of ledge rock, coastal soils, and steep grades.
John C. Gedney III founded Gedney Pools after three decades running crews on high-end residential pools; the family trade goes back four generations. That lineage matters here because Fairfield County is not a forgiving place to build. What we build across the county
New construction runs from refined rectangular pools with integrated spas to vanishing-edge and infinity installations engineered for hillside and waterfront sites. Full gunite renovation is an equal part of the practice: replaster in PebbleTec, PebbleSheen, or quartz; retile and new coping; equipment conversion to variable-speed pumps, salt systems, and full automation; and structural repair where decades of Connecticut winters have done their work. If your existing pool was built in the county's 1990s-2000s boom, renovation is usually the highest-return project on the property.
Every project includes design development with 3D visualization, engineering, permitting handled by us as your authorized agent, construction by crews we control, and commissioning. Difficult sites are the specialty
Much of our Fairfield County work exists because another builder said no. Wetlands buffers, coastal flood zones, septic and well setbacks, exposed ledge requiring rock excavation, steep slopes needing engineered retaining structures -- we prepare the survey, engineering, and drainage documentation reviewers need, and we present the application.
