37 years, one craft
John C. Gedney III has been building custom gunite pools since 1989 — 37 years of continuous, hands-on work across Fairfield County, Connecticut and lower Westchester, New York. Pool construction is a family trade for the Gedneys, carried across four generations. The standards John runs jobs against are the ones he learned as a young man on family crews in the 1980s, before he ever ran his own.
What that lineage actually means for your project
Four generations of pool building is not a marketing line — it is a body of knowledge about how pools fail and how to keep them from failing. It shows up in the details that never get inspected: how the steel is tied, how the bonding is run, how the equipment room is laid out for the service tech who shows up in year 12, how the shell is cured. Those are the decisions that separate a pool that holds its line for 30 winters from one that cracks in 8.
How we work
- Owner-led. John is on the work, not behind a franchise model with rotating crews.
- Engineering-first. Established structural PE relationships — stamped drawings for vanishing edge, sloped lots, ledge rock, and deep pools, not opaque subcontractor stamps.
- Direct manufacturer accounts with Pentair and Hayward, plus established trade-supplier relationships for stone, tile, and equipment — no middle layer of distributor markup.
- Built throughout Connecticut and Westchester. Real, current permit experience in the towns where we work.
